The plastic marking, explained
Every one of these cups carries the EU turtle label reading "contains plastic",
and it is still certified compostable.
Under the Single-Use Plastics Directive, PLA is classed as a plastic because of how it is manufactured, regardless of whether it composts. The marking is about the Directive's definition. It is not a statement about end of life, and it does not contradict the EN 13432 certification. Any supplier telling you their PLA cup is exempt from that label is wrong.
